NGC 2359 (Thor's helmet) in SHO: This morning I managed to get 2 hours of SII data to go with an hour of Ha data taken on the 1st Jan and an hour of OIII data taken on the 2nd Jan using an ASI 533MM Pro mono camera and filter wheel attached to a SW 80 ED triplet refractor fitted with a field flattener. The three channels were integrated and processed in Pixinsight and completed in Photoshop 2024. Thor’s helmet is an emission nebula in Canis Major around 12 MLY away, containing a central Wolf-Rayet star that is in its pre-supernova stage of evolution which is reacting with a nearby molecular cloud creating a bow shock similar in appearance to that of the mythical Norse god Thor's Helmet.
