SmartEye images from a dark sky site: On Easter Day I was staying with family in Carmarthen and with a clear moonless evening forecast I took my SkyWatcher Esprit 80 telescope along to try out the Society's SmartEye device in a darker location. The results were truly impressive, with colour observed by all after just one or two stacked subs. The images targeted were M42 (just 8 minutes), M101 (24 mins), The Needle galaxy (NGC4565) 24 mins and M106 and neighbouring galaxies (27 mins). The device was set to capture FITS images which were subsequently stacked in DSS and then processed in Pixinsight and Adobe Lightroom.
