The Helping hand nebula (LDN 1355-1358)

The Helping hand nebula (LDN 1355-1358):

22 hours of LRGB data taken over the period of the 16th to the 26th October on an SAS field trip to the dark sky area of Alentejo Portugal. All data were acquired in NINA using an ASI 533MM camera attached to an Altair 60EDF refractor fitted with a 0.8 x FR mounted on an iOptron IEQ 30 Pro mount, guided by an ASI 462MC camera and an SVBONY SV 165 guide scope. Data integration and processing were done in Pixinsight using NSG, with final adjustments made in Adobe Lightroom, with reorientation done in Adobe Photoshop 2025 to show the outline of the helping hand formation. These complex star-forming interstellar clouds are located in the constellation of Cassiopeia at a distance of 3,000 light-years and include dark nebulae LDN 1358,1357 and 1355 which together resemble the shape of a helping hand. They are extremely challenging to image due to their dark appearance requiring dark moonless skies to capture them.
