M106 and 7 other galaxies: 2 hrs of LRGB/Ha imaged with an ASI533 MM Pro camera and a Sky-Watcher 80 Esprit triplet refractor fitted with a field flattener. Data and matching flats and dark flats were acquired with NINA and integrated/processed in Pixinsight. M106 is an intermediate spiral galaxy located around 24 million light years away from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici and spans some 135,000 light years across. The galaxy is thought to contain 400 billion suns. I ran the image through Astrometry.net to identify the other galaxies captured in the frame and they include NGC 4217 (edge on spiral 60 MLY away and companion of M106), NGC 4220 (lenticular 63 MLY), NGC 4248 (barred spiral 24 MLY). NGC 4226 (spiral 388 MLY), NGC 4232 (spiral 333 MLY), NGC 4231 (spiral 340 MLY) and NGC 4346 (barred spiral 51 MLY).
