Lower's Nebula Sh2-261

I decided to process the image of Sh2-261 that I captured a couple of weeks ago. There seems no chance of acquiring any further date at the moment and the original process didn’t have any calibration frames. I’m also processing using my new Apple Mac mini. It’s amazing how much faster it runs Pixinsight!

Image details:

45 x 120 second Ha, Oiii and S2 subs using my SX694 and Altair Wave 102 with a 0.79 reducer, on the Cem60ec mount.

Integrated using WBPP, then GraXpert to remove gradients, SPCC to colour calibrate. After running BlurXterminator, I stretched the image carefully before removing the stars. Narrowband normalisation balanced the 3 channels as the Ha is always far stronger than the Oiii and Sii. Then final colour tweaking using the Colormask process before re-inserting the stars.

This is a lovely object that I only found by accident. I’m still hoping I can get my guiding working properly so I can add some longer exposures. The original guide camera only wanted to take one image and no more!
