M45 The Pleiades

I captured 6 Hours and 20 mins of data on this one of my favourite targets. I use my Skywatcher ED80 Triplet with a Starizona 0.65 reducer giving a focal length of 235mm.

The data was 1 hour each of Red, Green and Blue, and 3 hours of Luminance. All exposures were 120 seconds. I wanted to bring out the areas of faint dust, hence the long series of Luminance exposures.

The image was shot under dark skies with a new moon. That said careful gradient correction was required to ensure that the faint dust signal was not affected by the removal of gradients. Overall I am pleased with the result.

The faint dust can be seen and in this orientation the Pleiades look somewhat like a fountain!
