The Sun in white light

Following some restoration work on an old William Optics 71mm Zenithstar refractor, a Herschel Wedge was fitted to the scope which was mounted on an AstroTrac running in solar tracking mode. The scope was aligned with the Sun using a solar projector and then the lens cap removed to introduce sunlight into the OTA to sterilise the internal optics. A QHY5P-IIC camera was then used to take a 100 frame SER of the Sun using AstroDmX Capture. Some 45% of the frames were stacked in Autostakkert! 4 and then wavelet processed in Registax with final adjustments completed in Adobe Photoshop 2024.
