Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell's lecture to the Swansea Astronomical Society on 'Bursts, bangs and things that go bump in the night'

As part of our series of lectures to commemorate our 75th anniversary, we were privileged to have Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell visit us on the 27th July to give a lecture at the IQ Building Swansea. This was an ideal opportunity for members and invited guests to meet with Dame Jocelyn and it was lovely to spend some time with one of the true legends of astronomy who was responsible for discovering pulsars.

Dame Jocelyn spoke for around 40 mins giving a compelling lecture which included some of the latest discoveries in astrophysics which found us wanting more and was then happy to take another half an hour of questions before cutting the cake and joining in our celebrations for the Sapphire anniversary of our society.
