The Rosette nebula and NGC 2244, the Satellite cluster.

A William Optics ZenithStar 66 SD Apochromatic refractor mounted on a Celestron AVX mount was used with an Atik 314L mono CCD camera, using AstroDMx Capture for Linux to capture 50 x 90s FITS exposures of the Rosette nebula with matching dark frames.

The equipment used


The 16-bit preview controls were adjusted to give a pleasing preview of the images being captured.

The FITS files were stacked and post processed in affinity Photo.

This image was obtained with a total exposure time of 1.25 hours.
