Merry Christmas 2020 from the Swansea Astronomical Society!

It was lovely to see everyone at the Zoom Christmas social tonight! Thank you very much to Chris for organising and Howard for doing a very interesting and fun quiz. It was shocking to hear that Jocelyn Bell, discovered of pulsars, was asked by the press at the time for her vital statistics. Also - why did Al Bean of Apollo 12 recommend taking a hammer to the Moon? Lots of laughter was had.
Afterwards, Chris told us some things to see in the sky over Christmas 2020 (see below, courtesy of Sky At Night Magazine Don't forget the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction on 21st Dec - hopefully we'll have a clear night!
Finally an announcement was made that the amazing Chris Lintott will be speaking to the Society in January. Many thanks to Nik Whitehead for facilitating this, and we will be letting our members know about (free) tickets early in the new year. Here is our forthcoming program for 2021 (sticking to online via Zoom as Wales is high for Covid at the moment) and it will be added to our events page soon: (click to enlarge)
A very merry Christmas to all our members, supporters and friends, and let's hope for better times in 2021 :)
