Saturn

The planet Saturn was imaged using the Society's 115mm Triplet refractor fitted with x 2 Barlow lens using the Society's QHY5L-IIC camera. One thousand frame SER's were taken in Firecapture with and without Barlow lens, using ROI to increase frame rate. 50% of the frames were stacked in Autostakkert! with wavelet processing applied in Registax. A longer exposure was then taken to record the positions of four of Saturn's moons which were composited together with the non-Barlow image of the planet using Adobe CS2.. A comparison image was made to show the size of the planet obtained both with and without the Barlow lens.
